The Jewish community of Armenia has sent a letter to the President of the State of Israel Reuven Rivlin, the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, the Speaker of the Knesset Yariv Levin, calling for an end to the supply of weapons to Azerbaijan. As reports “Armenpress” the President of the Jewish community of Armenia Rima Varzhapetyan in her letter on behalf of the community noted with regret that at the hot moment of the armed conflict in Nagorno Karabakh Israel continues to supply the latest types of weapons to Azerbaijan.

Varzhapetyan reminded that since 27 September, Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia has been subjected to harsh aggression by Azerbaijan with the active support and direct participation of Turkey, which supplies arms and military equipment to Azerbaijan, as well as recruits jihadists from Syria to fight against Armenians.

The Chairwoman of the Jewish community of Armenia notes that the weapons supplied by Israel these days fall into the hands of radical Islamists and are used against the civilians of Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia.

“We understand Israel’s strategic security issues, economic cooperation issues, the principles of contractual obligations, but in the current crisis situation, when civilians, children, are being killed, there can be no ‘justification’ explanation.

It is very unfortunate that it is the long-suffering Israel, which is constantly fighting Islamic terrorism, supplying weapons to those on whose side the jihadists are fighting. “We hope that Israel will take all necessary measures to prevent a global catastrophe,” Varzhapetyan said.

On behalf of the Jewish community of Armenia, Varzhapetyan called on the leadership of the State of Israel and all its citizens to support the cessation of arms supplies to Azerbaijan and to support the cessation of hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.
