The first President of the Republic of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan issued a statement, which says:

“It was astonishing how the government of a nation that was the victim of a terrible genocide, motivated by purely mercantile interests, could actively support the open genocide against another nation. The statement of fifteen Israeli intellectuals gives hope that the society of that country, standing up, will finally force its own government to apologize to the Armenian people, to renounce its shameful and inhuman position.

“I am pleased to see the name of my close friend, Professor of the University of Jerusalem, distinguished Armenologist Michael Stone, among the signatories of the mentioned statement, to whom I extend my warm greetings.”
