National Assembly Deputy Iveta Tonoyan reports:
“13 parties have applied in written to the RA Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan, proposing to reconsider the decision on pre-trial detention of Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the “Prosperous Armenia” party.
The letter particularly states:
“Due to the war situation in the Artsakh Republic and Armenia, taking into account the contribution of the leader of the “Prosperous Armenia” party Gagik Tsarukyan in the spheres of state building, army building, charity, as well as the great international relations that he has, the imperative of the consolidation of political forces, national reconciliation and solidarity, the undersigned parties consider that these days it is not in the interests of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh to keep in custody Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party.
Gagik Tsarukyan was not detained for about three months after the initiation of the criminal case, during which he did not evade the preliminary investigation body in any way, did not obstruct the investigation in any way. Moreover, Gagik Tsarukyan has proved with his numerous statements and actions that he is ready to fully fulfill all his responsibilities defined by the criminal procedure rules.
Taking into account the above, we, the undersigned parties, are mediating to lift the pre-trial detention measure of the leader of the “Prosperous Armenia” party Gagik Tsarukyan or choose the “signature not to leave” precautionary measure.
The statement is signed by “National Agenda”, “National Self-Determination Union”, “Yerkir Tsirani”, “Heritage”, “Demkus”, “ARF”, “Homeland”, “For Social Justice”, “One Armenia”, “Christian-Democratic”, “Democratic Alternative”, “National Security”, “National Accord” parties.
