In the early morning on 27 September, 2020, the Azerbaijani armed forces, in violation of the ceasefire regime and the norms of international humanitarian law, launched large-scale offensive operations along the entire border of the Artsakh Republic. The Prosecutor’s Office reported.
Using artillery, missiles, heavy armored vehicles and human resources, they targeted the front lines of the Defense Army of Azerbaijan, military facilities, as well as the settlements of the Republic of Artsakh, the civilian population, civilian infrastructure.
As a result of these actions, human losses were caused, wounded among the civilians, children and military servicemen of the Republic of Artsakh, material damage was caused to the houses, apartments, movable real estate, public, educational and military buildings.
From the very beginning of the military aggression unleashed by the Azerbaijani forces, the RA Prosecutor’s Office has been in close contact with the competent bodies of the Artsakh Republic, in particular the Prosecutor’s Office of the Artsakh Republic, launching criminal proceedings to investigate these criminal acts and give criminal assessments.
Criminal cases have been filed against the facts of criminal harassment towards civilian population, the lives of servicemen, health, property, and objects of public military significance, and urgent investigative actions are being carried out.
The factual data obtained as a result of the investigative actions already show that the criminal encroachments, in gross violation of its international obligations by Azerbaijan, were committed, continue to be committed on the grounds of national hatred, in a way dangerous to life, illegally depriving people of their lives and intentionally destroying property.
The Prosecutor’s Offices of the Republic of Azerbaijan continue to carry out their functions in a cooperative manner, with the operative exchange of information, in parallel with the development of the situation.
