On 4 September, the regular sitting of the Professional Committee on Constitutional Reforms chaired by the Chairman of the Committee Yeghishe Kirakosyan took place.
According to the agenda, Legal Scholar Arthur Ghambaryan, member of the Committee, made a conceptual report entitled “Constitutional Status of the Investigative Bodies of the Prosecutor’s Office”.
General provisions referred to the reforms of the constitutional basis of the status of the RA Prosecutor’s Office (constitutional enshrinement of the provision on the independence of the Prosecutor’s Office, transformation of the system of functions (powers) of the Prosecutor’s Office, clarification, etc.), as well as changes to the status of investigative bodies. Separation of the semi-judicial element from the function of the investigation (clarification of the functions of the executive nature of the investigative bodies (collection of evidence), etc.).
After the report, the members of the Commission presented their observations, arguments and counter-arguments.
