Being in prison does not mean being completely cut off from the outside world. This reality was once again proved by the women prisoners of the “Abovyan” penitentiary institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia. An exhibition the women prisoners handicraft was organized in the institution on 31 August on the initiative of the Department of Social, Psychological and Legal Affairs.

The handicrafts of the convicted women were presented in different creative styles: collage, pottery, batik, ornaments on glassware, etc. The works were carried out within the framework of trainings organized by the “Legal Education and Rehabilitation Programs Implementation Center” SNCO of the RA Ministry of Justice, which due to anti-epidemic restrictions continue to be organized online.

The head of the “Self-made cultural union” group made an opening speech at the exhibition, which was attended by “convicted women” and the main staff, who presented each work in a unique and meaningful way.

The imprisoned women then expressed their gratitude to the administration of the institution, the organizers of the exhibition, the SNCO for making this difficult stage of their lives partially complete and creative.
