The convict’s wife appealed to the Human Rights Defender for assistance in examining her husband at the Convicts’ Hospital and restoring the disability group.

According to the applicant, her husband is serving a sentence in a closed correctional facility, has a number of health problems. He also had a 2nd group disability before. Due to his deteriorating health, he applied to the penitentiary administration to restore his disability group, but received no response.
A written discussion procedure has been initiated in the Defender’s Office. A letter was sent to the competent state bodies regarding the issues raised in the complaint.
As a result, the citizen was taken to the “Hospital of Convicts” penitentiary institution, and at the same time, after undergoing a medical and social examination, he was diagnosed with a second group disability.
