On 21 July, the Armenian Lawyers’ Association (hereinafter referred to as ALA) held its Board meeting online. Mr. Karen Zadoyan, the President of the ALA chaired the meeting.
During the Board meeting, the ALA President presented ALA’s Activity report for 2020, answered the questions of the Board members, and after the discussion and exchange of ideas the Board approved the report.
Further, by the unanimous decision of the ALA Board, lawyer Arkady Sahakyan, Acting Executive Director of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises, joined the organization and became a member of the ALA.
Then, Karen Zadoyan presented the initiative of conducting an online survey of thematic courses aimed at developing the professional skills of ALA members, its process and the content of the questionnaire. The Board decided to receive a list of professional training topics from the ALA members within a week, to approve it, and to suggest to the ALA staff to organize the courses.
The last issue of the Board meeting was the implementation of the ALA’s Strategic Plan for 2020-2023. After the report of the ALA President, members of the Board Mr. Marat Atovmyan, Ms Arpine Yeghikyan, Ms Zaruhi Harutyunyan and Ms Gohar Ghazinyan made speeches, emphasizing that the ALA with its professional capacity is able to fully implement all the activities envisaged by this ambitious strategic plan.
The 2020-2023 Strategic Plan of the ALA, also envisages raising the standards of the legal profession and public confidence. Within its framework the study of learning standards and content of the education programs, as well as monitoring the observance of the terms of the academic integrity standards from the aspect of the process of awarding scientific degrees in the field of law in the Republic of Armenia in recent years and also reforms will be carried out.
All 7 members of the board: Karen Zadoyan, Arpine Yeghikyan, Marat Atovmyan, Karen Kocharyan, Carl Ulbricht, Gohar Ghazinyan and Zaruhi Harutyunyan participated in the meeting of the ALA Board. The Board meeting was open and was attended by the ALA Executive Director Mr. Artak Saribekyan and other members of the organization as well.
