Earlier, the Ministry of Defense reported that Major Garush Vemir Hambardzumyan and Captain Sos Paylak Elbakyan were fatally wounded by enemy fire in the north-eastern part of the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border.

In 2016 the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces officers Garush Hambardzumyan was in the the  series of the best officers and commanders when he still had the rank of captain.
