People with Disabilities are faced with Hassles and Obstacles when it comes to Free Drugs: Human Rights Defender

From the day of the declaration of the state of emergency, the issues of ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities have been under the attention of the Human Rights Defender.

Human Rights Defender reported.

Between 16 March and 24 June, 153 complaints were received from people with disabilities related to the new type of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, of which the number of calls to the 116 hotline of the Human Rights Defender’s Office was 74.

In addition to appeals, the Ombudsman’s Office conducts monitoring.

Complaints about these issues, as well as the results of the monitoring, show that the state of emergency for people with disabilities has become more sensitive due to the new type of coronavirus infection, and the implementation of rights has become difficult and problematic.

The Human Rights Defender specifically notes that the problems described are systemic in nature, having been repeatedly reported by the Defender. The new type of coronavirus has simply deepened the manifestations of some of them, making the need for solutions more urgent.
