During the NA sitting, PAP MP Iveta Tonoyan, while asking a question to Prosecutor Artur Davtyan, said that the businessmen who are close to the authorities have fundraising boxes belonging to Anna Hakobyan Foundation’s “City of Smile” fund in their supermarkets.

He particularly said.

“In connection with the 2017 parliamentary elections, there were rumors circulating in the press that this or that deputy was distributing bribes to the employees of the institutions belonging to him. There are even recordings related to them. However, no development or criminal case has been initiated against them so far.

Of course, I understand why. Because today the boxes intended for Anna Hakobyan’s “City of Smile” project are simply placed in the supermarkets of the pro-government businessmen.

Notably, the above-mentioned fund is engaged in the treatment of children with cancer.

Gevorg Tamamyan, head of the Children’s Cancer and Blood Diseases Center of Armenia, made a Facebook post in connection with this announcement.

He wrote:

“Keep your hands off the fund for children with cancer. Before pronouncing the name “City of Smile” think thoroughly about who you are harming! Children with cancer? The invaluable work done by the foundation and the accountable and transparent work style that the foundation has adopted, which does not give anyone the moral right to conjugate that name!”
