On 12 May, around midnight, the Shengavit police department received a report about shootings. One of the residents of Shirak Street called 1-02 and reported that there was a fight in the area, shots were heard. Operative groups of Yerevan City Police Department, the Shengavit Department and the Charbakh Department left to the scene.

As a result of joint measures, the criminal investigators and the community police found the scene. Bloody traces, broken glasses and a 9 mm caliber shotgun were found in the yard of the 5th building on the 1st alley of Shirak Street.

Due to the operative measures taken on the spot, the police quickly clarified the circle of participants in the incident. Soon the identity  of the shooter and other participants became known. The 30-year-old resident of Shirak Street was found two hours after the incident, taken to the Shengavit police department, then presented to the preliminary investigation body and arrested.

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case on hooliganism and illegal acquisition, sale, possession, transportation or carrying of weapons carried out with the use of weapons continues.

Note: A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
