On 30 April, 2020, the regular distance learning course of the 5th stream of the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders took place. The topic of the course was “Transitional Justice, International Experience and its Applicability in Armenia.” Lusine Nalbandyan, Lawyer/expert of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association presented the topic.
The lecturer presented the general description of Transitional Justice, further she referred to the activities of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association in connection with Transitional Justice, and also spoke about the international experience studied by the ALA.
She presented the mechanisms of transitional justice:
- criminal justice (including the creation of Ad hoc (situational) and hybrid criminal courts and passing amnesty bills)
- truth-seeking process (creation of truth commissions),
- reparations programs (including the use of symbolic means to preserve memory);
- reparations programs, including lustration and vet
She also mentioned the proposals for the application of Transitional Justice in the Republic of Armenia and the ways of its application.
