The director of “Multi Group” Company Sedrak Arustamyan has been arrested. His lawyer Hovik Sukiasyan stated this in a conversation with Iravaban․net.

Arustamyan was arrested on 23 April, after which the lawyer appealed the decision. “The court upheld our complaint and declared the arrest illegal, while satisfying the investigator’s motion to detain him for two months. On the grounds that our complaint was upheld, there was a point that the investigator’s motion could not be upheld, but it was upheld. All this is from the sphere of contradictions. There is absolutely no legality in all this,” the lawyer said, adding that they will continue their struggle.

It should be noted that Sedrak Arustamyan is the father of Nora Arustamyan, a member of the “Prosperous Armenia” Faction of the National Assembly.

Arustamyan is accused of carrying out false business activities, organizing a process of tax evasion and assisting in that process, as well as legalizing (especially money laundering) the large-scale property obtained through criminal means.

Notably, Serzh Sargsyan’s brother Levon Sargsyan was involved in the criminal case under investigation by the RA Investigative Committee in connection with the cases of apparent abuses committed during the construction of the North-South road. Currently the latter is wanted.
