Hovhannes Khudoyan, the lawyer of the second President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, has submitted a new petition to the Court of General Jurisdiction of the City of Yerevan, asking to cancel the pre-trial detention of Robert Kocharyan.

The new petition is based on the country’s coronavirus epidemic. The danger of Kocharyan’s possible infection, taking into account that he is in the risk age group.

The ombudsman also appealed to the chairman of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan to re-submit the petition to another judge.

It should be noted that the next court session on the case of the alleged overthrow of the constitutional order will take place on 8 May.
