The Special Inquiry Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia has satisfied the condition of the Third President of the Republic of Armenia. A statement about this was posted on Serzh Sargsyan’s Facebook page.

“The Office of the Third President of the Republic of Armenia received a response to its letter dated 8 April from the Special Inquiry Committee set up to investigate the circumstances of the April 2016 hostilities, where it was expected to clearly state the position of the commission on the issue of the third President of the Republic of Armenia, in view of the fact that in the previous letter of the commission it was formulated that “the provision of video recording can be satisfied only in accordance with the requirements of the law on state and official secrets and as a result of the observance of established procedures” did not absolutely give a clear answer to the question, which however was done in the last answer.

Today’s letter of the commission clearly states that the Third President of the Republic of Armenia will be provided with the video of the section with his participation without any preconditions.

Taking into account that the commission has satisfied the only condition set by the third President of the Republic of Armenia, President Sargsyan reaffirms his decision of 7 April 2020 submitted to the Commission.

By the way, in today’s letter, the Committee did not clarify which of the norms of the RA legislation the request to submit written justifications in case of non-appearance of the resigned chairman at the sitting of the commission issues, taking into account that the RA Third President’s office clearly referred to the legislation according to which the submission of such a request is beyond the scope of the Committee’s authority. If the Committee does not refer to certain norms of the legislation, we assume that it has reconsidered its approach to this issue,” the statement reads.
