The lawyers’ team of the 2nd President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan has issued a statement, which reads:

“The Human Rights Defender is preparing a note to the SJC to clarify its official position.

The RA Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan responded to Robert Kocharyan’s lawyer Aram Vardanyan the applications of March 24 and April 7 of the current year.

In response, the Human Rights Defender particularly noted. “We agree that the issue raised is the result of incomplete legal regulations. In this case, the lack of appropriate procedural norms can in fact be problematic in specific situations in terms of human rights. Taking into account the above-mentioned need for the issue you raised and taking into account the constitutional function of improving the legislation of the Human Rights Defender, a note is being drawn up to submit to the Supreme Judicial Council to clarify the official position.”

Notably, in his appeals, lawyer Aram Vardanyan voiced the situation created as a result of the inaction of Judge Anna Danibekyan, who is examining the case on the alleged failure of the Constitutional order. Attention has been drawn to the fact that no court hearings have been held since March 17, and various legislative issues may arise in connection with all this.”
