The Staff of Yerevan Medical Institutions works in Emergency Mode

The state of emergency declared to prevent a new coronavirus infection has revised the pace and schedule of work of all healthcare facilities in Yerevan Municipality.

Yerevan Municipality informs about this.

There are ambulance groups on the front line, armed and ready.

“The service always works in emergency mode, especially these days. With caution, but we are always ready to serve all our citizens. During this period, 1299 citizens were taken to “Nork” Infectious Diseases Hospital by the ambulance service,” Taguhi Stepanyan, director of the Ambulance Service said.

Yerevan’s polyclinics have been busy since February. They are also on duty on weekends. X-ray cabinets also work.

At the entrance to the polyclinic, the body temperature is measured on the spot, and the citizens with coronavirus symptoms are taken to the isolation ward.

“We had two groups: citizens from abroad and citizens who had contact with the infected people. In both cases, we have established 14-day surveillance,” Ruzanna Durgaryan, director of Polyclinic No. 13 said.

On the first day, the doctors visit the house, then call the citizens every day and record the temperature data.

To date, 2597 citizens have been subjected to house control. 1497 have already been taken out of control, 1100 citizens are still under control.

“During this period, 125 of the monitored citizens were sent to “Nork” for infection, of which 65 tested positive and the disease was confirmed,” Gayane Antonyan, deputy head of the health department said.

In order to ensure the safety of medical staff, the Yerevan Municipality has purchased and provided the necessary protective equipment to health care facilities.

“According to the program for the prevention of coronavirus infection, the Yerevan Municipality has purchased 50,000 medical masks, 17,000 medical gowns, 45,000 medical gloves and disinfectant liquids for community-based medical institutions. The issue of relocating medical workers has also been resolved, and buses have been provided for that purpose,” Kamsar Babinyan, head of the Yerevan Municipality’s health department said.

No matter how careful the medical staff is, 10 medical workers have been infected with the coronavirus while performing their professional duties, and 41 have been isolated. The risk of infection, however, does not stop other employees of community-based medical facilities from carrying out their mission.

In response to the call from the Ministry of Health, 32 health workers joined the staff of the hospitals involved in overcoming the epidemic.

By the decision of the Mayor of Yerevan, more than 1800 community health workers fighting against the infection will be rewarded these days. To this end, all employees of the municipality and administrative districts have allocated more than 130 million drams from their March salary.

Each of us can join this struggle on our own, staying at home and preventing the spread of the infection.
