Echmiadzin Municipality issued a statement saying:

“Despite the state of emergency declared in Armenia, some citizens are trying to take advantage of the situation and resort to illegal activities.

In particular, ignoring the law, as well as measures to prevent a new coronavirus, and hoping that the municipality will be passive due to the organization of remote work, some people are carrying out illegal construction work, violating the law and emergency rules, endangering public health.

Dear citizens, the Municipality of Etchmiadzin warns that it is strictly pursuing the observance of the law and those who take advantage of the situation will be held accountable with the full force of the law.

The Municipality of Etchmiadzin, in order to exclude illegal construction and land seizures during the state of emergency, has set a daily duty for the employees of the Urban Development and Land Use Department: no lawlessness will escape the eyes of the city authorities.

We urge you to avoid responsibility, to refrain from illegal construction, to exclude illegal land seizures and illegal land construction, and to strictly observe the rules of the state of emergency, without endangering your health and the health of your relatives.”
