Today, President Armen Sarkissian received the Country Director and WFP Representative in Armenia, Ms. Jelena Milosevic.

The interlocutors stated that effective cooperation has been established between Armenia and the UN World Food Program.

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection in the world, the interlocutors considered the issues of food safety as one of the priorities. In this context, President Sarkissian considered very practical the steps to make Armenia a regional hub in the field of food safety, stressing that he had preliminary agreements with leaders of a number of countries and specialized international organizations.

Noting that the World Food Program is well-known as the first international emergency response structure, President Sarkissian suggested besides nutrition issues, to consider providing Armenia with medical equipment. In response to the President’s proposal, Jelena Milosevic said that they had appealed to international donors and would soon provide Armenia with a large number of artificial lung ventilation devices.
