Today, President Armen Sarkissian signed the laws “On Amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia” and “On Amendments and Additions to the RA Code on Administrative Offenses”.

The laws are intended to increase the effectiveness of emergency measures.

Preventive measures are necessary and must be undertaken in an unconditional and responsible manner by everyone.

There is also a need for a high degree of accountability by all relevant authorities, including law enforcement.

When setting isolation and self-isolation rules, even in a state of emergency, for people with various serious health problems, family misfortunes, and other exceptional cases, care must be taken and an individual approach.

The justified and proportionate application of the statutory restrictions to the press is also important.
