“We inform that according to the agreement reached between the Governments of Armenia and Georgia the cargo transportation between the two countries is carrying out smoothly.
The diplomatic missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, the diplomatic missions of the RA in Georgia and in the Russian Federation have repeatedly stated that the Gudauri-Kobe section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway remains closed due to adverse weather conditions.
At the same time it was announced that the entry of the RA citizens to the territory of Georgia is forbidden by all roads (at the Armenian-Georgian, Russian-Georgian, Turkish-Georgian borders and also by air and sea routes).
We inform that there is a crowding of trucks both in the areas adjacent to the Armenian-Georgian (Bagratashen-Sadakhlo) and Russian-Georgian (Upper Lars-Kazbegi) borders, as well as on various sections of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway.
It should be noted that the border crossing of trucks traveling to Russia as well as from Russia to Armenia at Upper Lars, as well as at the Armenian-Georgian border was stopped at this time only because of heavy snow. As soon as the road opens, the trucks will be able to cross the Armenian-Georgian as well as the Russian-Georgian border.
Despite our exhortations, there are currently Armenian citizens wishing to cross the Russian-Georgian border at the Russian section of Upper Lars. Taking into account the adverse weather conditions, the road will not be opened before the Georgian government’s decision to ban foreigners from entering Georgia (18․03․2020, 00:00), we urge our citizens to return to their places of departure and use the air routes to Armenia as soon as possible, particularly the airports of nearby Min Vodi, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don.
Once again we urge our citizens to refrain from returning to Armenia via Georgia and to use the air routes exclusively. We call on our citizens to assess the situation soberly,” the statement said.
