There is no Shortage of Flour, vegetable oil, cheese, sour cream, butter…no need to worry: SCPEC Chairman

Press conference of Gegham Gevorgyan, Chairman of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition, is taking place in the Government.

He noted that a round-the-clock working group has been formed, which deals with two issues: price and stock monitoring throughout Armenia.

“Price monitoring is carried out as follows: First of all, we receive information from the State Revenue Committee on the daily cash sales prices of the cash registers, and we get data from the businesses on how much they are selling. Of course we are monitoring the major players,” he said.

According to Gegham Gevorgyan, there would be an opportunity to track sales data, prices, import values, export problems, if any, invoice prices in online mode.

Small businesses in the regions are also monitored.

“It is likely that we will make a decision and give all business entities a warning in this situation that further violations will be taken into account as aggravating factors and will encourage our businesses to behave properly,” he said.

As for the available resources, he noted that they are also being monitored, checking daily consumption, balance, production and imports. “No worrisome phenomena are observed,” the SCPEC chairman said, noting that net workers are unable to physically locate goods in stores.

He added that two administrative proceedings have already been initiated over the illicit sale of alcogel.
