Given that the RA Chamber of Advocates, through the Public Defender’s Office, organizes free legal aid for citizens, thereby receiving a number of citizens every day, the RA Chamber of Advocates for the purpose of preventive measures aimed at protecting citizens and staff health related to coronavirus on 28.02.2020 has created a temporary ad hoc group in the administrative building and regional offices of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia has provided appropriate disinfectant and preventive to staff at regional offices. The Chamber of Advocates reports.

“At the same time, on 28 February, 2020, the President of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia addressed the Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan asking to:

– provide at least 200 masks that protect against coronavirus;

– inform what is required to implement protective measures to minimize infection risk for the virus.

To date, 11 days after applying to the Minister, the Chamber of Advocates has received a response from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia informing only on the impossibility of providing medical masks.

The Ministry of Health has not answer the question what is required to implement protective measures to minimize infection risk for the virus.

By submitting a letter to the Ministry of Health, the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia was expecting that the Ministry would promptly provide a written advice or at least an expert advice on what measures should be taken in case of a large flow of citizens to reduce the risk.

According to the above mentioned, the President of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia on 11.03.2020 appealed to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia to carry out awareness-raising Coronavirus-related activities in organizations or bodies with a large stream of citizens.
