The Working Group of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia has studied and summarized the cases of alleged electoral violations registered within the framework of the process and conduct of the constitutional referendum as of 11:00 am from 10 February to 4 March 2020.
The General Prosecutor’s Office informs.
Accordingly, 19 reports of alleged electoral offenses were received during the reporting period, including an alert, a police officer’s report, and a publication.
Data on 6 of them were obtained on the basis of mass media publications, social media posts, which were made available through the monitoring of the working group of the Prosecutor General’s Office; 9 – applications submitted by the citizen to the Prosecutor’s Office; 1 – the hotline of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, as a result of a citizen report on-line:
Nine of the above are applications from the same person that were allegedly administrative offenses. They were given clarifications regarding the lack of need for an inspection order because of the lack of a report of an apparent crime.
The other 10 cases contained abstract and general information. They have been investigated by a working group and have been examined or are being investigated under the supervision of prosecutors of the prosecution.
In particular, in case of 8 of them the fact of the alleged violation have already been denied and left no follow-up on the reports of police officers, and investigative actions are being carried out on 2.
The Working Group of the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, continues to monitor the media publications, citizen reports and alerts, as well as their substantive review of media publications, citizen reports and alerts during the preparation and conduct of the constitutional referendum to be held on 5 April, 2020, prosecutorial oversight of the lawfulness of procedures, the information on the results of which will be provioded permanently.
