Spokeswoman for Special Investigative Service Marina Ohanjanyan issued a statement saying:

“We inform that the information published on 22.02.2020 in the newspaper “Zhamanak” that “several MPs’ phones were confiscated in the framework of a case under investigation in the SIS” and that “the criminal case relates to the organization of a coup attempt in Armenia”, is not true. Please be informed that such a case is not being investigated by the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia.

We urge the media to refrain from disseminating unverified and untrue information.”
