On 21 February, President Armen Sarkissian signed a decree awarding the Greco-Roman wrestling champion Armen Nazaryan with the 1st degree Medal of Services to the Motherland.

The decree states:

“Based on the Prime Minister’s motion pursuant to Article 136 of the Constitution, as well as Article 5.3, Part 1 of the Law on State Awards and Honorary Titles of the Republic of Armenia: Greco-Roman Wrestling Europe, World and Olympic Champion Armen Lyudwig Nazaryan awarded the 1st degree medal for “Services to the Motherland” for his significant contribution to the field of physical education and sports.”
