Following the National Assembly’s decision on referendum on the Draft Constitution on February 6, 2020, and its submission to the President of the Republic of Armenia by the President of the National Assembly on February 7, the Constitution restricts the functions of the President of the Republic to appointing a referendum date only.

The President of the Republic, guided by Article 206 of the Constitution, signed a decree on appointing the Referendum Constitutional Amendments on 5 April.
