Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Shushanik Nersisyan told reporters that the Customs Service will respond strictly to attempts to abuse repatriation privileges. “For example, recently, according to the documents, an elderly woman in her 80s was returning to Armenia from Georgia and bringing with her a 2019 production “Bentley”. She had authorized two young men to handle her own affairs. Let me say that administration against those trying to abuse privileges will be tough. If we are not deceived, we are with the citizens returning to Armenia as much as possible,” Shushanik Nersisyan said.
Notably, the draft law on exempting from customs duties the personal belongings of the individuals repatriating (returning) to Armenia has been put into circulation. It facilitates the conditions currently in force by law. With the new initiative our compatriots of Diaspora, whether they are RA citizens or not, have registration in the RA or not, if they have not actually lived in Armenia for 3 years and wish to settle in the Homeland, can import their personal items – technique, furniture, clothes, etc., without any customs duties and taxes. They can also bring their own car which they own for at least 6 months.
