Lusine Abgaryan rejected Robert Kocharyan’s Defender’s Motion to Withdraw

The Court of Criminal Appeal today, on 18 December, presided by Judge Lusine Abgaryan, announced the decision on the motion of withdraw filed by Aram Vardevanyan, defender of the second president of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan.

Judge Lusine Abgaryan rejected the motion.

It should be reminded that on 16 December Aram Vardevanyan, the defender of the second president of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, filed a motion of withdrawal to judge Lusine Abgaryan, presiding over today’s session of the Court of Criminal Appeals. The latter should examine the appeal on the measure of restraint of the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan on not releasing him on bail.

Reports in the media about Judge David Abgaryan’s brother have become the basis for a self-withdrawal.  In particular, David Abgaryan liked and shared the post of singer Serj Tankian on his Facebook page, where he expressed satisfaction with the arrest of Robert Kocharyan, while Lusine Abgaryan liked the post. In addition, the brother of the judge is a friend of the former representative of the victims of the case, currently Vahe Grigoryan, a judge of the Constitutional Court.
