Arman Babajanyan, a Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, submitted a report to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia on the occasion of an apparent crime of misappropriation of state power by a group of officials.
This was reported by the Special Investigation Service.
On the basis of the report, materials prepared by the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia a decision was made to institute a criminal case under Article 300 (1) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (Usurping state power, i.e. seizure of state power, in violation of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, or keeping it with violence, as well as, actions aimed at the overthrowing of constitutional order of the Republic of Armenia, or the violent breach of territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, is punished with imprisonment for the term of 10 to 15 years.).
An investigation is underway.
Notably on 4 October, the Independent MP Arman Babajanyan applied to the Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan for a criminal and legal assessment of the conduct of the President of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan.
Arman Babajanyan presented the details of the application at a press conference in front of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Note: The person suspected in or accused of an alleged crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in accordance with Court verdict made effective by the procedure prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
