New Chairman of the Governing Board of Armenian CSOs’ Anti-Corruption Coalition elected

The session of the Governing Board of Armenian CSOs’ Anti-Corruption Coalition took place on 30 January.

The first issue on the agenda was the election of the Chairman of the Governing Board of Armenian CSOs’ Anti-Corruption Coalition. Mr. Arkady Sahakyan, a representative of the Union of Advainced Technology Enterprises, was elected to the position unanimously.

Further, Mr. Karen Zadoyan, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, Coordinator of the CSOs’ Anti-Corruption Coalition Secretariat presented the Draft Strategic Plan of the Coalition   for the period of 2019-2023. After discussion the members of the Governing Board approved the Strategic Plan.

The next issue on the agenda was the establishment of a Transitional Justice Committee in Armenia as part of the Coalition. Mr. Movses Aristakesyan,  President of the Center for Economic Right was elected the Chairman of the  Committee. He will submit to the Governing Council the schedule of the Committee’s work and roadmap for action in two-weeks.

The Coalition also formed a commission that will be involved in the development of the Coalition membership. Mr. Gevorg Grigoryan, President of the Armenian Association of Young Doctors, was elected chairman of the commission. He shall also submit the schedule of the Commission’s work and roadmap for action in a two-week period.

Ms. Syuzanna Soghomonyan, Expert of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association presented the “Draft RA Anti-Corruption Strategy and its Implementation Action Plan 2019-2022” and the recommendations of the Coalition related to it. After the discussion the recommendations were approved and the Secretariat of the Coalition, the Armenian’ Lawyers’ Association was instructed to send the summarized document to the RA Ministry of Justice.

The Anti-Corruption Coalition of Civil Society Organizations of Armenia was established on 28 November, 2014 by the initiative of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association. The Coalition includes about 95 CSOs from Yerevan and the RA regions. The coalition has been established with the support of the European Union.
