The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction rejected the defense motion for the release of Vachagan Ghazaryan, the former head of bodyguard of the third president Serzh Sargsyan Vachagan Ghazaryan on bail.
Vachagan Ghazaryan’s attorney Armen Harutyunyan said this in an interview with Iravaban.net.
He mentioned that they have offered bail starting from 5 million AMD, but it is not essential, as the court itself decides.
Notably, Vachagan Ghazaryan was charged under Article 2 and part 1 of article 310.1 of the of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia on 27.06.2018 within the framework of the criminal case investigated by the Special Investigation Service. On June 27, the investigator of the RA Special Investigation Service filed a petition to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan to imprison Ghazaryan as a precautionary measure. Later on, on July 24, he was released for a bail of 1 billion AMD. The preliminary investigation is in process.
