The working group of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia has examined and summarized the allegation of 64 cases of alleged electoral crimes related to the voting process of the RA National Assembly extraordinary elections as of 13.00 on December 9, and the corresponding investigations and preliminary investigations bodies carried out corresponding actions: The Prosecutor’s Office’s press service reports.
11 of the cases were recorded and registered as a result of the monitoring of mass media publications conducted within the framework of the working group of the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the data on 53 cases were received by the citizens by the applications filed by the police or prosecutor’s office, as well as reports submitted by the RA Police.
In order to verify the legitimacy and grounds for initiating a criminal case in 31 cases, materials are being prepared in the manner provided by Articles 180-181 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia. 27 of them are related to attempts to vote more than once (Article 153 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia), 4 – hindering the free exercise of the electoral right (Article 149 of the RA Criminal Code).
And 33 cases of abstract and general information have been or are being carried out as a result of which a part has already been denied and left unanswered.
Of these:
7 – referred to the impediments to the voter’s free will:
1 – referred to the seizure of ballot papers,
2 – referred to violating the order of compiling voter lists,
1 – referred to bribery,
1 – referred to barrier restraint,
21 – referred to other cases.
The working group operating in the RA General Prosecutor’s Office continues to raise the effectiveness of prosecutorial supervision over media reports, citizens’ reports and alerts on the possible electoral violations during the preparation and conduct of extraordinary elections of the RA National Assembly, the discussion of the reports and the materials prepared on their basis and the initiated criminal cases the results of which will be released in the near future.
