The 17th Summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie kicked off today in Yerevan. Prior to the official opening of the Summit, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, his spouse Mrs. Anna Hakobyan, Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) Michaëlle Jean and her husband met the heads of Francophone countries’ delegations at Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex, after which a joint photo session took place. Within the framework of the Summit, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and French President Emmanuel Macron cancelled a stamp dedicated to the “World-Renowned Armenians: Charles Aznavour” theme.
84 country delegations have arrived in Armenia to participate in the 17th Summit. 38 heads of State are in attendance.
On October 11-12, the election of OIF Secretary General will be on the agenda of the 17th Francophone Summit. The Summit has the motto of “Living Together Respecting Solidarity, Humanitarian Values and Diversity as a Basis for Peace and Prosperity in the Francophone Region.” Pomegranate is the logo of the 17th Summit of La Francophonie, which symbolizes peace and prosperity throughout the Francophone space.
