Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has signed a decree on October 4, according to which in connection with the death of the National Hero of Armenia, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Swiss Confederation, the famous singer, composer, writer, filmmaker and public figure Charles Aznavour, 6 October, 2018, is announced a Day of Mourning in the Republic of Armenia.
Bako Sahakyan, President of Artsakh signed a decree on declaring a mourning day as well.
According to Article 4 of the Law on the Flag of the Republic of Armenia, the flag of the Republic of Armenia is lowered during officially declared mourning days or mourning ceremonies. The flag is lowered to the middle of the flagstaff. Black ribbon is attached above the flag, the length of which is equal with the length of the flag.
According to Article 22 of the Law on Television and Radio, the broadcast of advertisements and entertainment programs by the state television and radio companies is prohibited on the mourning days declared by the state.
