The office of Robert Kocharyan, the second president of the Republic of Armenia, made a statement in connection with the scandalous telephone conversation and press conference of the NSS and SIS heads.
“As it is known, today, on September 11, a video appeared on the Internet representing the phone calls of the RA NSS Director and the SIS Head on the events related to “March 1” case, in particular the Second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov’s arrest. The details of these conversations are known to everyone and there is no need to rewrite them.
The content of the conversation comes to prove several important facts about which we have just stated. They are:
President Robert Kocharian is being subjected to political persecution, which is directed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan. The conversation between the director of the National Security Service and the head of SIS does not raise any doubts.
Judging from the recording, from the very beginning, the task was not to reveal the case of “March 1” and find the guilty, but simply arrest / according to the lexicon of the speakers “close” (Kocharyan), and this is a classic example of a political vendetta.
The first instance judge, who has made a decision on arrest, was found under the brutal pressure of the authorities and made an unlawful decision through the “dictation” from above.
The precautionary measure of the second president of Armenia and CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov was chosen by the agreement of Nikol Pashinyan. Firstly, the head of the Special Investigation Service agrees /detention/, and then the head of the National Security Service /bail).
The occurrence is a crime involving high-ranking officials. The announcement made by the Prime Minister, as well as the NSS Director and the SIS Head, following the announcement of the press conferences, are nothing else than unsuccessful excuses. The shameful content of telephone conversations does not need comments, and conversations about “evil forces” trying to obliterate the heroic struggle of “good forces” against corruption and crime in this context are ridiculous. It is important to emphasize that these conversations reveal not only the episode of a specific case, but the essence of the current regime, the real face of the day. People, who speak from morning to night about the love and tolerance and non-intervention in justice, do the opposite, misleading and deceiving the public. People who talk about democracy from morning to night are brutally oppressing democratic freedoms and human rights.
We also consider it necessary to emphasize the following: From the speeches made by the Prime Minister, the NSS Director and the SIS Head, it becomes clear: seeing that it is impossible to arrest and prosecute President Kocharyan, by suing fraudulent case and remove him from the political arena, as well as being convinced that the rumors about illicit enrichment and fabulous possessions do not correspond to reality, the authorities resort to a new way of saying that the Kocharyan family has dealt with money laundering. Let the public decide what these announcements, made by the participants of the famous phone calls, are worth. But it is obvious that political persecutions against President Kocharyan continue and they are entering a new phase.
We urge all our compatriots and friends to cautiously assess the current situation, the way the authorities work, to break the propagandist veil and not allow Armenia to turn from a democratic country to a failed state that is driven by the dilatants, with bolshevik principles and where political repressions are encouraged. “
