The National Assembly holds a special session, the agenda is ‘the election of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.’ Nikol Pashinyan, the only candidate for prime minister of the country, is currently making his speech. In his speech addressing the fight against corruption, he stated:
“No citizen of the Republic of Armenia should feel embarrassed because of having no “backing”. The Constitution and the legitimacy of the Republic of Armenia should be the “backing” that belongs to the people. All the people of Armenia will be unequivocally equal before the law and this will first of all refer to the Prime Minister’s family members, relatives, and friends.
The use of government levers for carrying out business will be excluded, the system of declaration of high ranking officials will be changed so that the people of Armenia will be convinced and aware of the possessed property of every high-ranking and how the structure of that property changes parallel to his office.
Naturally, the illicit enrichment parallel to the term in office must bring concrete consequences.
In the post of prime minister, I guarantee that there will not be any economic monopoly from tomorrow, there will be no barrage of imports. We will not do this by suppressing any barriers.”
