Statement of the Prosecutor General’s Office about the Assemblies organized by Nikol Pashinyan

Starting 13 April, 2018, RA NA Deputy Nikol Pashinyan has been organizing and conducting rallies in Yerevan, during which he repeatedly violated the requirements of the RA Law on Freedom of Assembly, hindering the free movement and other rights of the residents of the capital, as well as normal activities of the organizations.

Not observing numerous statements by the police, during which the participants of the rally in an organized way entered the building of YSU on 13 April and on April, the buildings of the Public Radio, the actions were accompanied by damaging the property of those companies, causing bodily harm to their citizens, endangering public safety.

Continuing the same illegal activities on 16 April, the participants of the rally continued the same unlawful activities on Baghramyan Avenue, attempted to bypass the police officers and did not fulfill their legitimate demands.

The participants of the organized assembly, harming the public as well as the private property located on Baghramyan Avenue, applied violence against police officers, endangering public safety.

Based on the above mentioned facts, criminal cases have been instituted under Article 225 (1 and 2) and, Article 225.1, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code, which has been assigned to the RA Special Investigation Service.
