The RA Police has received numerous complaints from different organizations in the capital, including educational and medical institutions, that the actions of the assembly participants have been hindering their regular activities since morning. The constitutional right of free movement of thousands of citizens is being restricted. Such situation has resulted in the restriction of the basic rights and interests of other individuals and the public.
The police have issued a statement.
The RA Police reminds that by virtue of Article 33 of the RA Law on Freedom of Assembly, “The Police may terminate an assembly only if there is no other possibility of preventing disproportionate restrictions of the constitutional rights of other persons or of the public interest.”
The Police of the Republic of Armenia urge the organizer Nikol Pashinyan to unconditionally fulfill the duties of the organizer of the rally under the RA Law on Freedom of Assembly, in particular, to stop the blockade of the streets and ensure the normal course of the assembly.
