“International experience related to the issue of creation of the anti-corruption body is very different, there is no joint opinion that a borrowing experience or introducing this or that experience will be a firm guarantee of success,” Arpine Hovhannisyan, the Deputy President of the RA NA said while introducing the Draft Law on Corruption Prevention Council.”

“There are two main operational models in different countries: the universal and preventive. In case of the universal model al functions are exercised by one body that is all 3 functions of fight against corruption; educational, preventive and investigative, are exercised by one body. A so called super-body, which has all functions, is formed. In case of the preventive option, two functions are provided to this body, whereas the investigative function is provided to relevant subdivision of the sysem that operates in the country,” the Deputy President of the RA NA said.

Miss Hovhannisyan noted that as a result of numerous discussions it was decided that at this moment Preventive body can be successful for Armenia.
