One Person is arrested in Sari Tagh Case

One person is arrested with the suspicion of using violence dangerous for health against the representative of the authorities.

One person was arrested on July 20 in the framework of the criminal case investigated in the proceeding of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on violence used against police officers performing their official duties in the evening of July 19, 2016.

Taking into account the public interest, we inform that H. Torosyan, a resident of Yerevan, born in 1978, was arrested with the suspicion of performing an action foreseen by Part 2 of Article 316 of the RA Criminal Code: ” violence dangerous for health against a representative of authorities concerned with performance of his official duties. “

We have earlier informed that at about 20:00 on July 19, 2016, a group of people used violence against Police officers performing their official duties by throwing stones and other rigid items towards them at the junction of Glinka and Vormnadirner Streets adjacent to M. Khorenatsi Street of Yerevan. As a result of the violence 6 police officers with different body injuries were hospitalized. They were acknowledged as injured party.

The preliminary investigation is going on, urgent investigative actions are conducted with the purpose of providing comprehensive, objective and complete investigation of all circumstances of the case.

Information about court decisions made upon a criminal case will be regularly provided.

Note. Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to the law stipulated by the RA Criminal Procedure Code with the final verdict of the court.
