Arpine Hovhannisyan presented the Work of the Anti-Corruption Council

The RA Minister of Justice Arpine Hovhannisyan participated in the informal meeting of the Ministers of EU Eastern Partnership Countries, which was held on 7-8 July in Bratislava.

The Information and Public Relations Department of the RA Ministry of Justice reported that during the ministerial meeting the participants discussed the current approaches of the EU and Eastern partnership Countries referring to issues of fight against corruption, money laundering and financing terrorism as well as directions of introduction of effective mechanisms for the fight. They also referred to the solutions recommended by a number of legal acts in these areas, including The European Union’s Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive.

During the meeting the ways for strengthening of independence and transparency of the judicial system. Arpine Hovhannisyan delivered reports. Specifically, the Minister of Justice presented the activities undertaken within the framework of the fight against corruption, referred to the work of the Anti-Corruption Council, as well as legislative initiatives aimed at combating corruption.

Arpine Hovhannisyan presented the measures undertaken to strengthen the independence and transparency of the judiciary during the judicial reform 2012-2016 in Armenia, the achievments, as well as the vision for the future reforms.
