The group of lawyers-human rights activists has filed complaints against Azerbaijan to European Court of Human Rights on behalf of the family members of the soldiers killed as a result of Azerbaijan’s violation of cease-fire on MKR Azerbaijan border at the night of 1 to 2 April, 2016, which then were beheaded and dismembered.
The applicants applied to the court for the protection of their rights which were violated as a result of intervention against the fallen soldiers, inhuman treatment against them, and respect for the victims’ privacy, as well as discrimination on the grounds of nationality and failure to recognize their rights.
The Court registered the complaints on the 9th and on the 15th April and informed the representatives of the victims. The Court on its own initiative gave anonymity to the complaints, limiting the public access to the decisions made and other documents compiled in the scope of the proceedings.
Given this circumstances, the applicants and their representatives cannot provide the full access of the complete information to the public.
The violation of the court procedure shall be considered as a abuse of rights and may even lead to the termination of the examination of applications by the court.
Considering the above said we apply to the journalists and other persons with request to avoid asking questions about the details of the case to the members of the victims’ families and their representatives, as well as from publicizing unverified information obtained from other sources to in order not to harm the interests of the investigation.
We assure that the representatives of the applicants will provide the necessary information to the public by their initiative, in accordance with the rules of the Court.
