The Staff of the RA President reports that the President of Armenia, Chairman of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Council Serzh Sargsyan today received the CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha, CSTO Chief of Staff, Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, and the heads of the delegations of the CSTO member states – Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, who have arrived to Armenia to participate at the 8th session of the CSTO Military Committee which will take place today in Yerevan.
The participants of the meeting presented to Serzh Sargsyan issues on the agenda of the Military Committee and their expediency in the strengthening of the military component of the CSTO. The parties exchanged views on the measures aimed at raising the effectiveness of the Joint Staff. Discussed were issues pertinent to the maintenance of security and stability in the CSTO Caucasian area, and particularly, the situation established here after the recent military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan at the Azeri-NKR Line of Contact.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serzh Sargsyan and Nikolay Bordyuzha held a private meeting during which the CSTO Secretary General reported to the President of Armenia on the current steps of the Organization. Discussed were also issues related to the RA presidency in the Organization.
