As a result of operative investigative measures undertaken by the officers of Military Police of the RA Ministry of Defense in Gyumri, Samvel Simonyan, who was called to the department, reported that in 2012, the head of second division of Ashotsk military commissariat, Major Voskan Voskanyan demanded and received 6,500 USD for his son’s Jora Simonyan’s 3 years deferment, from military service. The RA Ministry of Defense reports about this.
Samvel Simonyan also reported that in 2015, the Major again demanded and received 4500 USD for the first draft deferment for his son.
A criminal case on the Article 311(taking bribes) of the RA Criminal Code was initiated in the Military Police of the RA Ministry of Defense. Voskan Voskanyan was arrested. The operative investigative measures are in process.
