Starting 9 November, 2015 a new procedure of picking up passports will function in the U.S. Embassy in Armenia, to make it easier for the approved visa applicants, as well as for current visa holders to renew their visas. The U.S. Embassy informs that this new service is free of charge.
According to the source, starting on 9 November, visa applicants will no longer have to return to the U.S. Embassy to pick up their passports (containing their visa). Now they will be able to pick up their passports with their visas from the office of UMAKS Company, the DHL representative in Armenia, located at 27 Amiryan St. in Yerevan. The applicants, whose applications are approved during the visa interview, will later receive an e-mail notification that they can pick up their passports containing their visa from the office at Amiryan Street. Applicants can also designate third parties to pick up their passports for them. More details are available at www.usvisa-info.com.
“We know it may be difficult to get to the Embassy,” Consul General Frank Tu said. “We hope our visa applicants will find this process easier. For no additional fee, they will be able to walk to the DHL office on Amiryan Street and pick up their approved visas. We aim to make the visa application procedure as simple and easy as possible.”
Individuals, who have previously had visas and meet certain requirements for interview-free visa renewal, will also be able to leave their application packets at the DHL office on Amiryan Street after submitting the on-line application and paying the regular visa application fee. Applicants, who are asked to provide additional documents during the interview, will also be able to submit those documents via the DHL office and avoid visiting the Embassy again.
This change is applicable for the interviews scheduled after 9 November. No fee is required to be paid at the DHL office as the service is covered by the visa application fee, which remains the same.
