On 15 October, an Operative Conference was held with the participation of the heads of traffic police departments. It summed up the results of the operational activity of traffic police for 9 months of 2015. The conference was conducted by the Deputy Chief of Police, Colonel Samvel Hovhannisyan. They discussed the measures taken in the last 9 months, which have considerably promoted the traffic security. Samvel Hovhannisyan estimated positively the statistics of discovering cases of drunk driving, according to which the traffic police recorded 4871 cases in 2015, whereas during the same period in 2014 only 2351cases were recorded. However, the Deputy Chief of Police was concerned with the fact that the practice of drunk driving was not decreasing. He ordered the heads of traffic police departments to intensify the co-operation with local police departments.
The Traffic Police Chief Armen Hakobyan said that they are expecting the results of reforms in possibly short terms and ordered to perform unconditionally their everyday work considering the office problems and peculiarities of each traffic police department. The participants were given private orders and directions concerning the issues on the agenda.
At the end of the conference some officers deserved words of encouragement for performing their serevice duties conscientiously.
They also presented the orders about submitting 19 police officers to a disciplinary responsibility for failure to meet their duties. The Chief of Traffic Police urged them to draw the necessary conclusions and to improve their work in short terms.
