EBRD will provide a 3.5 Million EURO Loan to Armenia

Loan and grant agreements within the framework of “Kotayk Marz rigid waste management program” were signed between the Republic of Armenia and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on December 19. The loan agreement was signed by RA Minister of Finance Gagik Khachatryan and Head of EBRD Yerevan Office Mark Davis. Under the agreement the EBRD will provide Armenia with 3.5M Euro loan. RA Minister of Finance Gagik Khachatryan, Head of Hrazdan Community Aram Danielyan and Head of EBRD Yerevan Office Mark Davis signed also a grant agreement by which Armenia will be provided 3.5M Euro grant through EU Neighborhood Investment Facility. Within the framework of the program it is planned to receive another sum equal to 1.07M Euro as technical assistance.

The purpose of the program is to promote the improvement of rigid household waste management in Kotayk Marz and Sevan. Within the framework of the program the capital expenses will include construction of new waste deposit, acquisition of waste collection trucks, waste containers/boxes, specialized equipment for waste deposit works, whereas within the framework of technical cooperation additional environmental and social explorations and assistance in procurements will be carried out, etc.
