Piotr Świtalski recommends the RA Government to take an Example from the EU in the Fight against Corruption

Head of the EU Delegation Ambassador Piotr Switalski recommends Armenia to adopt an open and transparent policy in fight against corruption like the European Union. Today, during the press conference he referred to the case of embezzlement of grants provided by the European Union, stressing that this investigation will bring Armenia and the EU more closer: “There were opinions that these can hurt our relationship. I have the opposite view, I am confident that these actions will lead to rapprochement between Armenia and the European Union.”

Mr. Switalski offers to refrain from making hasty conclusions and wait until the investigation is completed, ” We should not talk before the Court gave conclusion. I have read various speculative information, but I will tell you my opinion. We must wait unless the next step is made and not make hasty conclusions. Such actions are speaking about the readiness of the European Union in the fight against corruption. I believe that the EU is even stronger in the fight against corruption, for we are sure we can stop corruption ourselves, and corruption is a common problem,” Mr. Switalski said.

He recommends the other countries, including the RA Government to take an example from the EU in the fight against corruption, “As you know, around 1 billion Euros is wasted in EU countries annually, as a result of corruption scandals. But the EU is open to speak about it, is decisive to fight against corruption, regardless what the source is. I would recommend the other countries, including Armenia to adopt the same desire to be open and cooperate,” Head of the EU Delegation stressed.
